I’m not usually a fan of remakes or reboots because most of the time, at least in my opinion, although the graphics are usually much better, the story doesn’t usually change much. So normally it wouldn’t be good news for me – and others who share my opinion – that Nickelodeon is doing several reboots of its classic shows. However, several have dogs as main characters, and from what I’ve seen, these remakes actually look really well thought out and super cute! As far as I know, there are three in the making that I’m actually excited for and I think you might be too!
The one that I’m most excited for and am going to talk about today is Nickelodeon’s reboot of “The Rugrats” that is coming out on Paramount Plus! For those that have never seen “Rugrats” (where have you been the last thirty years?), it was a long running hit TV show that ran from 1991 to 2004. It was about a group of babies and exciting, sometimes scary adventures, seen from their baby perspective.
If you haven’t seen this show in a long time or have never seen it at all, you might be wondering, “What does this show have to do with a blog about dogs?” Well, I’m glad you asked! Tommy, the bravest baby among his friends, has a protective and equally courageous mutt named Spike. Spike is a major character that looks out for the babies, helps them out of ‘ruff’ spots, and even lets them ride on his back.
I absolutely adored this show as a kid, and it makes me feel so nostalgic! When I first heard of this reboot, I was skeptical. I thought, “Why? How could they improve the original? What more could they do?” Then I saw one of the first shorts on YouTube featuring Tommy and Spike, and I was pleasantly surprised. It was SO cute! Mark down this date: I was wrong!

I am also wondering, since Nickelodeon is making at least two (hopefully more) reboots in the future, would you like to see my thoughts on those if they include dogs?
